  • Nativity Teaching Fellowship

    Teaching Fellowship 2024-2025 Application

    The Nativity Teaching Fellowship Program is open to recent college graduates who desire to impact our students’ education and development positively.

    Responsibilities:

    • Two-year service commitment to Nativity Prep
    • Live in community with other fellows at Burton House
    • Assist Lead Teachers with at least two classes; Second-year Fellows may take on more teaching responsibilities at the discretion of the Principal
    • Serve as an advisor to 3-4 students
    • Supervise school-day activities and fulfill daily duty obligations
    • Coach or supervise afternoon activities from 3-5 p.m. (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) and dinner until 6 p.m. once a week
    • Coordinate other school programs as assigned by the Principal (athletic director, tutor coordinator, community service coordinator)
    • Teach, coach, and supervise students at the Nativity Prep Summer Program during the month of July

    Compensation:

    • Room and board at Burton House Faculty Residence (in Jamaica Plain)
    • Medical Insurance
    • Stipend: Year 1 – $1200/month, Year 2 – $1400/month stipend
    • AmeriCorps Education Award Voucher (≈$6500)
    • Access to school-owned vehicles for local transportation
    • Opportunity to enroll tuition-free in a master’s degree program at the Boston College Lynch School of Education

  • Lead Science Teacher

    Lead Science Teacher

    The Lead Science Teacher oversees the implementation of the Science curriculum and teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science to small classes of boys preparing for success in high school, college, and life. The Lead Science Teacher works closely with others in curricular and cross-curricular activities to foster a love of learning and responsibility to the broader community. The Lead Science Teacher actively participates in the extended day program that promotes the growth of the whole person.  

    Responsibilities:

    • Effectively manage 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade science classrooms by setting high expectations and creating relevant, standards-based lessons.
    • Assess and further develop the existing science curriculum with special attention to the content and methods appropriate to the students’ developmental levels, and social/cultural and religious backgrounds.
    • Moderate or coach at least one, seasonal extracurricular activity per year.
    • Attend regularly scheduled meetings with the administration, whole faculty, and grade-level teams to discuss individual student progress and further develop the curriculum.
    • Serve as proctor of recess, lunch, or other areas as assigned.
    • Serve as a leader willing to work with and support novice teachers.
    • Use current instructional technologies effectively.
    • Integrate Gospel values and Ignatian Pedagogy in all facets of the work described.

    Qualifications:

    • Willingness to work in a collaborative environment
    • BA or BS and teaching experience are required. Preferred applicants should have a master’s degree and 3-5 years of teaching experience at the middle school level.

    Compensation:

    • Salary is commensurate with experience and degree

  • Lead Lead Reading Language Arts Teacher

    Lead RLA Teacher

    The lead RLA teacher will oversee the implementation of the Reading and Language Arts
    curriculum. The ideal candidate is passionate about literacy education, skilled in differentiated
    instruction, and committed to creating a supportive learning environment. The lead RLA teacher
    will collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and participate in extracurricular
    activities to support the holistic development of our students

    Responsibilities:

    • Implement engaging, standards-aligned Reading and Language Arts curriculum.
    • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to support student comprehension and literacy
      skills, including differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive classroom environment.
      Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and share best practices.
    • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and administrators.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
    • 3-5 years of previous middle school RLA teaching experience.
    • Valid teaching certification/license in Massachusetts.
    • Strong knowledge of literacy instruction and curriculum standards.
    • Leadership experience preferred.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and Nativity Prep’s mission.
    • Passion for teaching and willingness to work collaboratively.
