Admissions

Nativity Prep is a Jesuit middle school for boys of low-income families residing in the City of Boston.  We accept students of all faiths and backgrounds.  Applicants must be boys entering the 5th or 6th grade, living inBoston, and eligible for free or reduced lunch in the Boston Public Schools.

The goal of the admissions process is to determine whether prospective students would be a good fit for Nativity Prep, which includes high expectations, rigorous academics, sports and extracurricular activities, an extended day, a mandatory summer program, and parental involvement.

Admissions Requirements:

• Residency: Applicants must live in the City ofBoston.

• Grade: Applicants must be entering the 5th or 6th grade.

• Income: Applicants must be from low-income families, eligible for free or reduced lunch in the Boston Schools.

Admissions Procedures:

1. Applications are available beginning in January. Obtain an application by downloading it from the website, calling Nativity Prep to request one, or picking it up in person.

2. Return the completed application with a copy of the household’s current 1040 tax forms (or equivalent income documentation) to the school. Applications must be submitted by March 16.

3. Obtain copies of the student’s complete school record including all special education plans and standardized test scores from your son’s current school and submit to Nativity Prep.

4. Submit the Recommendation Forms to the current English and Math teacher(s). If the student has the same teacher for both subjects, please give one form to his previous English/Math teacher.  We need two forms per student, each from a different teacher.

5. Return these documents to Nativity Prep as soon as possible.

An application will be reviewed only when it is complete. Based on that information, we will invite the student in for a day-long visit and the parent for an interview.

Decision letters will be mailed in early April.

Open House:

If you are interested in learning more about Nativity Prep, there will be two Open Houses, on January 14 and March 10.  The Open House is an opportunity to visit the school, tour the building, meet current students and staff, and ask questions about the school.  Attending an Open House is a great way to learn more about Nativity Prep, but it is not required as part of the admissions process.
